Aroma Candles - Hints and Tips
BURNING - Jar candles should be left to burn until a complete melt pool forms across the top of the container (approx 2-3 hours) Allowing candles to liquefy to the edges of the jar before extinguishing will prevent tunnelling. Do not burn your candle all the way dry, leave at least 1/4 inch of wax at the bottom of the jar to prevent it from getting too hot. Burn time maximum 4 hrs.
EXTINGUISHING CANDLES ~ Ideally your candle should always be extinguished by "dipping" the wick into its own pool of liquid wax using an Aroma Candles Wick Dipper. This method of snuffing eliminates smouldering and smoking, keeping your house free of smoky residue while priming your wick with wax ready for the next lighting. Always allow your candle to cool before relighting it.
WICKS ~ As our wicks are 100% cotton, you will sometimes notice "mushrooming" of the wick. This is a natural characteristic of pure cotton wicks. To provide the best burn possible we recommend removing the black "mushroom" before burning and trimming your wick to 6mm.
WICK TRIMMING ~ For best results use an Aroma Candles Wick Trimmer. This way you will be trimming the wick to the perfect length every time. By trimming the wick too short the flame will be too small, and the melt pool may not reach the edges of the jar or you may not be able to re-light your candle.
SPILLS ~ Soy wax is biodegradable and water soluble so you can clean up spills, drips and jars with hot soapy water. Easy peasy!
GENERAL ~ Always read the warning label on the bottom of the jar. You should never burn jar candles for more than the recommended time, 4 hours. Do not burn any longer than this as it may cause the glass to overheat and crack, causing wax to leak out of the cracked jar.
